Privacy
Your privacy on refugee.london
Refugee Resources: London is a free, public directory of refugee, asylum-seeker, and migrant support services in London. You can use it without an account, and we built it to collect as little about you as possible. In short: no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
What stays on your device
When you save resources or choose a language, that preference is stored only in your browser (using local storage) on the device you're using. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
The contact form
If you send us a message — to suggest a resource, request a change, or ask a question — we receive the name, email address, and message you type into the form. We use these only to read and reply to your message. We don't use them for marketing and we don't sell or share them.
You don't have to give a real name, and you should avoid including sensitive personal details (such as immigration status, health, or case information) in the message — a general description is enough for us to help.
The AI assistant
If you use the chat assistant, the messages you send are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic, the makers of Claude) to generate a reply. Please don't enter sensitive personal information into the chat. The assistant is a signpost to services — it is not a lawyer, caseworker, or emergency service.
Cookies and tracking
We don't use advertising cookies, analytics, or third-party trackers. The only data kept in your browser is the preferences described above, which are essential to how the site works.
Like any website, our hosting provider may keep short-term technical logs (for example, IP addresses and requested pages) to keep the service running and secure. These are not used to identify or profile you.
Links to other organisations
The directory links out to many external organisations, and some pages link to our partner, Islington Centre for Refugees. Once you follow a link, that organisation's own privacy practices apply — we can't control how they handle your data.
Your choices
Because we don't hold accounts, most of your data stays in your hands: clear your browser storage to remove saved resources and preferences. If you've contacted us and would like us to delete the message you sent, just get in touch through the contact form and we'll remove it.
Questions
If you have any questions about privacy, please reach us through the contact form.
